Summer Fun
Sunday, August 1st, 2010It’s hard to believe that we are already mid-way through the season. We’ve welcomed so many wonderful guests from around the world during the first half of the season, and are looking forward to welcoming many more over the next few months. Thanks Ruben
For a month during the summer, we were delighted to have Ruben Burkard working with us. Ruben is from Germany and was on a work experience programme designed to help him improve his English language skills and give him an understanding of the Guest Ranch tourism sector and ranching in general. Ruben experienced a wide variety of tasks at the ranch but we are probably most grateful for all his help in getting the 1,500 bales of hay moved from the neighbouring Mt. Morrisey Ranch to our hay barn. Each bale weighs approximately 60lbs and had to be stacked 8 high to fit into the barn.
Some New Faces
We are also pleased to welcome some new members to the team at Tod Mountain Ranch. Steve Scott, Wrangler, can usually be found around the barn whilst Deanna Weijand takes care of housekeeping. They look forward to meeting you all.
And More New Horses
We have a few more horses at the ranch too. Booster, Red and Slurpy have all recently passed probation and are now regulars out on the trail. Booster is a 16.1hh Bay Gelding and is now one of our lead wrangle horses, Red is a 16hh Red Dun Gelding and Slurpy is a 16hh Buckskin Gelding. Hot Date with Johnny Reid

Johnny Reid is visiting Kamloops on 5th October 2010 and we’ve got tickets! Lower Rates for May & June

Spring Is Here!
Monday, March 22nd, 2010We’re taking advantage of the early spring here in the Louis Creek Valley and preparations for the summer season are well underway. I’m very excited that it is only 6 weeks until the first guests of the 2010 season arrive. I can’t wait to welcome you to the ranch and share with you the stunning beauty of the valley and the surroundings mountains.
New Arrivals
Our herd continues to grow and this week we welcomed three new arrivals. Paddy is an 11 year old Bay gelding, Popcorn is a 9 year palomino and Shadow, who is also 9 is a grullo (black dun). They have all settled into the herd well and we’ll start introducing them to the trails in the next few days.
Spring Riding
May & June offer some great riding experiences at Tod Mountain Ranch. In May, everything is starting to come alive again and we will be exploring some new trails. In June, the weather starts to warm up and the valley becomes lush and green. May & June are also the best months for spotting wildlife before the heat of the summer drives them further up the mountain. Spring Specials
Monday, February 8th, 2010Although we are in the midst of winter, you’d never believe it here at the ranch. We are experiencing the warmest winter on record and instead of the fields of snow that I usually see this time of year, everything is bare. This warmer weather brought our thoughts here to Spring at the ranch and we wanted to let you know about some great special offers we have.

Note On Taxes & How To Save
The BC Government recently announced some tax changes which will affect travellers to BC after 1st July 2010. The current tax rate for ranch stays is 6.2% and this will increase to 12% for all bookings from 1st July. However, if you have already booked, or were planning your ranch vacation after 1st July, there is an opportunity to avoid this increase. Simply book and pay in full prior to 1st May 2010 and you will only be charged the current tax rate of 6.2%. Contact Tracey for further details.
Free Transfers from Kamloops
We are delighted to announce that we are now offering free transfers to and from Kamloops at the start and end of your vacation. We will pick you up or drop you off at Kamloops Airport, Greyhound Bus Station or any downtown hotel/motel. Just let us know your travel plans and we will arrange to meet you.
