Ranch Hand For The Day

Guests Helmut & Robert, visiting from Austria, got down and dirty on the ranch last week when they opted to spend the afternoon working with our Wrangler Dan to clear the deadfall from one of our horse pastures. Dan’s dog Spike drove the tractor, whilst the boys did all the hard work! Thanks for your help guys, we sure appreciated it!

Rio

Sadly, we had to say goodbye to one of our dear four-legged yesterday. Unfortunately Rio suffered a bad fracture to his leg and with a poor prognosis for recovery was put to sleep. He’ll be missed by all who had the pleasure to ride him.

Tod Mountain Ranch honoured at BC Small Business Awards

We were honoured to be named as finalists for the Business Concept Award at the Successful You Business Awards Ceremony in Vancouver yesterday.  The event, designed to celebrate entrepreneurial excellence was sponsored and presented by Small Business BC and the Insurance Bureau of Canada. The Business Concept Award, sponsored by the CGA of BC, is awarded to businesses who are in the start-up phase of development. Although we narrowly missed out on taking the award home, we were delighted to be recognised as one of the top 3 new businesses in BC.

Marissa’s Stagette Weekend

The ranch really came alive last weekend when we hosted Marissa & 10 of her friends for a stagette weekend. The weekend was organised by Marissa’s sister Merilee who went to great efforts to make sure that the weekend, a surprise for her sister, was a great success. With a combination of riding, relaxing and party games, everyone had a great weekend!

Congratulations Marissa - and from all of us here at Tod Mountain Ranch, we wish you a fabulous wedding day on June 12th and hope to see you and your new husband back here sometime in the future!

Branding & Clay Shooting

The first few weeks of the season have been amazing.  We have welcomed guests from France, Germany, USA, UK and Canada.

Last weekend, the guests and staff from Tod Mountain Ranch were invited to the annual branding at our neighbours’ ranch.  Gord & Chris Hudson raise cattle just a few miles up the road from us and we were thrilled to be invited to take part in this event.

After a full morning of branding, tagging and doctoring the calves, our guests helped to turn the cows and calves out to the pasture and then enjoyed a long lazy lunch on the lawn. Lunch almost proved to be too tempting for one of the bulls, who decided to break through the fence and join us on the lawn.

After lunch, we all enjoyed a few rounds of clay shooting and were amazed to find some real sharp shooters amongst our guests, particularly Daniel who was visiting us from France.
